Wilson Central does the 5 peat!.........WC 39 - MJ 27
      
The Wildcats opened the 2008 home campaign with a 5th straight win over Mt Juliet by the score of 39 - 27. The offense was balanced 50-50 pass/run with 309 yds total offense. WC scored the first unanswered 17 points on a Jackson Redditt FG, a blocked punt return by Cody Clawson, and a 2 yd run by Jordan Poole. MJ roared back to score the next 14 points; WC led at halftime 17 - 14.
WC received the 2nd half kick-off and scored on the 2nd play with a 64 yd scoring strike from Kelton Stewart to JaJuan Brooks.........24 - 14. Mt. Juliet then took over the game and dominated the 3rd and most of the 4th quarters taking a 27 - 24 lead. Following a WC punt with less than 2 minutes to go in the game; Artavious McMurray made the "PLAY OF THE GAME" stripping the ball free and recovering the fumble from the MJ punt returner; four plays later Kelton Stewart hit Alex Raines with the 19 yd game winning TD pass. Stewart put the "icing" on the cake with a 42 yd interception return for the final score + a 2 pt conversion by Jerren Dowell..............final
39 - 27------CATS!!
The WC "DEFENSE" was led again by Nathan Rottero (8 tackles) and Spencer Nevil (10 tackles) in the middle. Defensive turnovers were (1) pick by Ross Strong and (1) by Kelten Stewart..........a punt block by Rottero. 3 fumbles were recovered by Isaiah Boon, McMurray, and "to be named"

Wilson Central opens at Franklin County with 21 - 0  SHUTOUT !!
      
The Wildcats opened the 2008 campaign with a road win at Franklin Co. by the score of 21 - 0. The offense sputtered at times with (4) turnover fumbles, but still managed close to 250 yds total offense. WC's first score was a 13 yd scamper by Alex Raines in the 1st Qtr. The 2nd score was a goal line jet sweep by Raines; all PAT's were good by Jackson Redditt. 14-0 at the half.
WC received the 2nd half kick-off and drove for a 3rd score on a 10 yd pass from Kelton Stewart to Jerren Dowell.........21 - 0. Another offensive highlight was a solid performance by WR's Artavius McMurray and Jarvis Jenkins combining for 5 catches for close to 100 yds receiving.
The WC "DEFENSE" was excellent with two great stands inside the 20 to stop FC drives. The swarming Cats were led by Nathan Rottero (12 tackles) and Spencer Nevil (9 tackles) in the middle. Defensive turnovers were (2) picks by Ross Strong and (1) by JaJuan Brooks..........a FG block by Strong.
